A truth forgotten

This week has been difficult in many ways, but the truth is, I forgot something vital.  It’s not that the housework, groceries, sickness, and emotional conflict have created chaos…rather, it exposed the chaos in my own heart.  I have forgotten a very important, vital truth:

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
(Colossians 3:23 ESV)

I have been cooking, cleaning, disciplining, and schooling for men instead of the Lord.  I forgot that my labor (which happens to be the work of a housewife and homeschooler) is for the Lord, not my spouse’s recognition or my children’s praise, or the praise of others.  And thus, the chaos of my heart.

But, God, in His ever giving mercy, directed me to remembrance here.  May it bless you too.
